Who we are
We are a small crew of trades and writers who got tired of sales brochures pretending to be advice. Cinthia Luse started in 2021 as a shared notebook for project costs, a place to log what a renovation actually took after the quotes were signed. Today it reaches thousands of monthly readers who want straight answers before they spend.
Our mission
We help you improve, buy and furnish a home without wasting money. Every week we publish free news and buying guides on home improvement, real estate, interior design, contractors and renovation: real 2026 prices, honest trade-offs and steps you can act on the same day you read them.
Editorial standards
No sponsored picks, no pay-to-rank lists. We buy at retail what we test, disclose relationships, and correct mistakes in public within 48 hours. Numbers come from our own measurements, permit records and public housing data, never from press releases. If a product or a crew fails in real use, we say so.
The team
Mara Whitfield (kitchens and interiors, 11 years), Ivan Castellanos (building science and energy, 9 years), Priya Anand (residential property, 8 years), Nadia Okonkwo (interior styling, 10 years), Grace Adeyemi (contracts and hiring, 7 years) and Omar Haddad (renovation carpentry, 12 years). Supported by contributing tradespeople who review every guide before it ships.
